Editing images in the media library

Learn how to crop, rotate, filter, adjust, resize and remove the background of an image in the WEMASY media library without losing the original.

The WEMASY media library has a built-in image editor. You can crop a photo, rotate it, give it a filter, change brightness and contrast, make it smaller, or remove a plain background, without another program. Every edit is saved as a new image, so the original and the pages that use it do not change.

Open the image editor

  1. Click Media Library in the left sidebar of the Website Builder.
  2. Find the image.
  3. Click Edit image on the image.

Crop and rotate

  1. Open the Crop tab.
  2. Choose an Aspect ratio, such as Free, Original or a fixed ratio.
  3. Drag the crop frame over the part you want to keep.
  4. Use Rotate left, Rotate right, Flip horizontally or Flip vertically if needed.

Filters and adjustments

  • Filters: pick a look, such as Black & white, Warm, Cool, Vivid or Vintage, then fine-tune it under Adjust.
  • Adjust: change Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, Warmth, Tint, Fade, Vignette and Sepia. Reset adjustments starts over.

Resize

In Resize, set the Longest side or keep Full size, and choose the Format and Quality. Images are never made larger than the crop, so they stay sharp.

Remove the background

  1. Open the Background tab.
  2. Click Remove background.
  3. Check the result. Click Put the background back to undo.

Only a plain one-color background can be removed here. Busy backgrounds stay. The result is saved as PNG or WebP so the transparency stays; a JPEG gets a white background.

Save your edit

  1. Click Save as copy.
  2. Wait for Saved as a new image.

The new image appears in your library with the badge Edited. To use it on a page, choose it in the element, for example in the Image element. Reset undoes all changes, and Back leaves the editor without saving.

Tip: for designs with text on images, such as social posts or banners, use Edit in Canvas where it is shown. Managing files: Media library.
