Sending email through your own mail server

The Mail server tab decides how your project sends form emails and newsletters. By default WEMASY sends them for you. You can also send them through your own mail server (SMTP), so emails come from your own address. Both options are part of every plan.

This tab is only about sending emails from your website. Mailboxes on your own domain, to receive and read email, are part of E-mail Hosting. See Getting started with E-mail Hosting.

Open Mail server

1. Click the gear icon next to the project switcher.
2. Click Mail server in the menu on the left.

The two options

• Send through WEMASY: the easiest option. Emails are sent from a WEMASY address and replies go to you.
• Use my own mail server (SMTP): emails are sent from your own address through your mail provider.

Use your own mail server

Get the SMTP details from your mail provider first. Then:

1. Select Use my own mail server (SMTP).
2. Enter the SMTP server, for example smtp.yourprovider.com.
3. Enter the Port and choose the Encryption: TLS, usually port 587, or SSL, usually port 465.
4. Enter the Username and Password of your mail account.
5. Enter the Sender address your mail server allows you to send as, and a Sender name.
6. Under Use this mail server for, tick form emails, newsletters and campaigns, or both.
7. Click Send test email.
8. Enter the address in Send the test to and click Send test.
9. Check that the test email arrived, also in your spam folder.
10. Click Save.

You can only save after a test email was sent. A working setup shows Tested and working. To change the settings later, leave the password field empty to keep the saved password.

Go back to WEMASY sending

1. Select Send through WEMASY.
2. Click Save.
