A course in WEMASY holds everything a student needs: a title, a description, an image, its modules and lessons, and the settings that decide who can enroll. This article explains how to create a course, fill in its details and change its status.
Create a course
- Open Courses from the product menu.
- Click New course.
- Enter the Course title, for example Sourdough for beginners.
- Click Create course.
WEMASY opens the course with four tabs: Details, Curriculum, Students and Insights. You add modules, lessons and the price in the next steps.
You can also describe the course you want in the box at the top of the Courses overview and click Ask the AI. The AI creates a draft course with modules and lessons that you can review and change. See Using AI in the Website Builder for how the AI chat works.
Fill in the course details
On the Details tab you set what visitors see on the course page:
- Title and Subtitle: the name of the course and one line about who it is for.
- Description: what the student learns and what the course contains.
- Course image: the picture on the course card and course page.
- Access: Free or Paid. See Selling a course or offering it for free.
- Level, Language and Length in minutes: extra information for your students.
The same tab holds the switches for certificates, drip emails, quiz feedback and the AI tutor. These are explained in Certificates and the AI tutor.
Click Save to keep your changes.
Publish, unpublish or archive a course
A new course is a Draft. Students and visitors do not see drafts. The buttons at the top of the course change its status:
- Publish: the course becomes visible on your website. You need at least one published lesson first.
- Unpublish: the course becomes a draft again.
- Archive: current students keep access, but new students cannot enroll.
- Back to draft: brings an archived course back as a draft.
- Delete course: removes the course with all its modules and lessons. Students lose access.
Tip: Archive a course you no longer sell instead of deleting it. Your students keep their access and progress, and archived courses do not count toward the course limit of your plan.
Frequently asked questions
Why can I not publish my course?
A course needs at least one published lesson before you can publish it. A paid course also needs a linked shop product. Publish a lesson on the Curriculum tab and try again.
What happens when I reach the course limit of my plan?
You see a message that your plan has reached its number of courses. Archive a course you no longer need or upgrade your plan to create a new one.
