Creating categories in WEMASY Website Builder helps you organize your website’s structure and content — whether it’s pages, blog posts, or products. Categories make it easier for visitors to navigate and for you to manage content efficiently.

Below is a step-by-step guide for creating three main types of categories:

1. Create a new page (website category)

Step 1: Log in to your WEMASY Dashboard at dashboard.wemasy.com.

Step 2: Go to Sitebuilder from the left sidebar.

Step 3: Click on the “Pages” icon in the sidebar menu.

Step 4: Click “+ New Page” or “Create Page” button.

Step 5: Choose a layout — either a Blank Page or from a Template (like Home, About, Contact).

Step 6: Name your page (e.g., “Services,” “About Us,” or “Pricing”).

Step 7: Click Save to add it to your site navigation.

Tip:

You can reorder pages by dragging them in the sidebar or hide pages you don’t want visible in your main menu.

2. Create a new blog category

Step 1: From the Dashboard, open the blog post page in edit mode. On the top there will be a category section click on it. Click on create category section (depending on your content structure).

Step 2: Click “+ Create Category”.

Step 3: Enter:

  • Category Name: e.g., “Marketing Tips,” “Product Updates,” or “Case Studies.”

  • Slug (URL): A short link (e.g., /blog/marketing-tips).

  • Description (optional): Helps describe what this category includes.

  • Step 4: Click Save.

Step 5: When creating a new post, assign it to the appropriate category from the dropdown menu.

Pro Tip:

Use consistent category names (e.g., “SEO Guides,” “Product News”) so your blog stays structured and searchable.

3. Create a product category (webshop)

Step 1: Go to Webshop from the Left Sidebar in your dashboard.

Step 2: Click “Categories” in the Webshop menu.

Step 3: Click the “+ Add New Category” button.

Step 4: Fill in the details:

  • Category Name: e.g., “Clothing,” “Digital Products,” “Accessories.”

  • Slug/URL: e.g., /shop/clothing.

  • Parent Category (optional): Use this to create subcategories.

  • Description: Optional, used for SEO and store structure.

Step 5: Click Save to add the category to your store.

Step 6: When adding a new product, select the category from the dropdown so it appears under the right section on your website.

Example:

If you sell templates and designs:

Main Category: Templates

Subcategories: Website Templates, Email Templates, Popup Templates

Quick tip

Keep your category names short and descriptive. For example:

“SEO Tools” → Good

“Everything About Optimizing Search Engines” → Too long
