Customer accounts let shoppers register on your site, log in, and see their orders, invoices, and downloads in one place. Guest checkout keeps working, so nobody has to create an account to buy.
Turn on customer accounts
- Click the configuration icon next to the project switcher.
- Click the Webshop tab.
- Find Customer accounts.
- Tick Enable customer accounts.
- Tick Collect billing details at registration if you want an optional billing section on the create-account page.
- Click Submit.
The account pages
The first time you turn accounts on, WEMASY creates six pages on your site: the account dashboard at /account, plus login, register, forgot password, reset password, and verify email pages under /account. A Login or Register link appears in your site header, and checkout shows a "Create account" option.
You can rename these pages and restyle them in the Website Builder. You cannot delete them, because the account system needs them. If a page breaks, save the Webshop settings again and WEMASY repairs it.
What your customers can do
- Create an account at checkout or on the register page, and confirm their email address.
- See their past orders and order them again in one click. Items go into the cart at today's prices.
- Download files from paid orders. See Digital products and downloads.
- Download their invoices.
- See their quote requests.
- Save a default billing and shipping address, which fills in at checkout.
- Turn cart reminder emails on or off under email preferences.
- Change their email address with a code sent to the new address, change their password, or delete their account.
Invite a customer yourself
In Webshop under Customers, click Invite customer. The customer gets an email to set their own password. See Managing customers.
Tip: Turn on accounts if you sell downloads or have many returning customers. They find their files and invoices without emailing you.
Frequently asked questions
Do customers have to confirm their email address?
Yes. Email confirmation is always on for customer accounts.
Does turning accounts on change checkout for guests?
No. Guests still check out without an account. They only see an extra option to create one.
Are customer accounts the same as my WEMASY login?
No. Customer accounts belong to your shop. Being logged in to your WEMASY dashboard does not log you in as a shop customer.
