Welcome series and automated campaigns

A campaign in Newsletter & Campaign is a set of one or more emails that go to your lists on a schedule. Use it for a welcome series that starts for each new subscriber, for emails on a fixed date, or for an email that repeats every week or month. Once you start a campaign, WEMASY sends the emails by itself.

Create a campaign

1. Open Newsletter & Campaign from the product switcher.
2. Click Campaigns in the left menu.
3. Click Create new campaign.
4. Enter a Campaign name and, if you like, a Campaign description.
5. Click Create campaign.

You can also click Start a welcome series on the Overview page. The campaign opens as a Draft: nothing is sent until you start it.

Choose who gets it

1. Under Lists that get this campaign, click Add to list.
2. Select the lists.
3. Confirm your choice.

For people who are not on a list, use Add people one by one. Most campaigns only need lists.

Add the emails and set when each is sent

1. Under Emails in this campaign, click Add email.
2. Choose emails from your library, or click New email to build one.
3. Click Email settings next to an email.
4. Under When is this email sent?, choose a moment.
5. Click Save settings.
6. Repeat for every email in the campaign.

The four moments:

• At start: once, to everyone, when you start the campaign.
• On a date: once, to everyone, at a set date and time.
• After joining: per person, counted from when they join. Choose a number of minutes, hours, days, weeks or months after they join or after the previous email. Use 0 to send it right away.
• Repeat: to everyone, for example daily, weekly or monthly, with an end date or a number of sends.

Under Advanced you set a Send window with Not before and Not after, and you can tick Skip weekends (Saturday and Sunday) or Skip holidays. An email that falls outside the window waits for the next morning.

Build a welcome series

A welcome series is a campaign where every email uses After joining. For example: the first email 0 days after they join, the second 3 days after the previous email, the third 7 days after the previous email. Only people who join after you start the campaign get these emails, each counted from their own join. When you import contacts, you can choose to start the welcome series for them.

Sender and settings

Under Sender and settings you can set the Sender name, Sender email and Reply-to email, and turn on Private campaign. A private campaign has no unsubscribe link, so use it only for emails your recipients must receive. Under Advanced: who to leave out, joining more than once you choose Send only once per user or Send every time user joins.

Start, pause and stop a campaign

1. Open the campaign.
2. Open Actions.
3. Click Start.
4. Confirm.

A running campaign can be paused with Pause, stopped with Cancel or ended with Complete. A stopped campaign can be changed and started again with Reopen. Replay copies the campaign into a new draft.

Set the moments of your emails before you start. A campaign with only one-time emails finishes by itself after its last email and then takes no new emails. A campaign with an After joining or open-ended Repeat email keeps running until you complete or cancel it.
