Failed payments and overdue invoices

When an automatic payment for a subscription does not go through, for example because a card expired, the subscription becomes past due. This article explains what happens next and how to pay the open invoice so your products keep working.

What happens when a payment fails

• The invoice gets the status Failed or Overdue on the Invoices tab.
• The subscription shows that it is past due, and it appears on the Overview tab under the items that need your attention.
• WEMASY sends you reminder emails over the following days.
• Your products keep working for a short grace period, so you have time to pay.

If the invoice is still not paid when the grace period ends, the subscription expires and the paid products of that project are locked until you choose a plan again.

Pay the open invoice

1. Click your avatar or initials in the top right corner of the dashboard.
2. Select Billing & Invoices.
3. Click the Invoices tab.
4. Click Filter and choose the status Overdue or Pending to find open invoices quickly.
5. Click Pay Now next to the invoice.
6. Pay on the secure payment page. You can use a different card or payment method there.

When the payment goes through, the invoice changes to Paid and the subscription continues as normal.

Common reasons a payment fails

• The card has expired or was replaced by your bank.
• There was not enough balance or credit at the moment of the charge.
• Your bank asked for an extra confirmation that was not completed.

Paying the open invoice with Pay Now solves all of these. If the payment keeps failing, contact your bank first, then create a support ticket and include the invoice number. See Support tickets.
