Fix a failed social media post

Learn why a WEMASY social media post can fail or wait, how to read the reason in the queue, and how to fix it and send the post again.

When a post in WEMASY Social media could not go out on one or more platforms, it gets the status Failed or Partially published. The queue shows the reason, and you can fix the cause and send the post again to the platforms that failed.

Find the reason

  1. Open Social media from the product switcher.
  2. Click Queue.
  3. Click the Failed tab.
  4. Read the red line under the post. It names the platform and what went wrong.

The Overview page also counts failed posts, so you notice them without opening the queue.

Send it again

  1. Fix the cause, using the list below. Retry works for causes outside the post, such as an expired login or a missing page selection.
  2. Go back to Queue.
  3. Click Retry on the post.

Retry only sends the post to the platforms that failed. Platforms where it was already published do not get it twice.

Common reasons and fixes

Access expired or the session could not be renewed

Messages such as "Reconnect the account" mean the platform no longer accepts the login WEMASY stored. Open Accounts, click Reconnect on the account, sign in, and then click Retry. See Connect your social media accounts.

No page, account, board or location selected

For Facebook Page, Instagram, LinkedIn Page, Pinterest and Google Business you must choose what WEMASY posts as. Open Accounts, pick the page, account, board or location, and click Save selection.

Text too long

Each platform has its own limit, for example 280 characters for X and 300 for Bluesky. A failed post cannot be edited, so make a corrected copy.

  1. Click Duplicate on the failed post. The copy is saved as a draft.
  2. Open the Drafts tab.
  3. Click Edit on the copy.
  4. Open Customize per platform and write a shorter text for that platform.
  5. Click Schedule or Publish now.

Deselect the platforms where the original post was already published, so they do not get it twice. The same steps work when you need to change the images or video.

Missing or wrong media

  • Instagram and Pinterest need at least one image. Instagram can also take one video.
  • YouTube needs exactly one video and no images.
  • Bluesky, Pinterest and Google Business do not take video.
  • Images can be up to 10 MB, videos up to 200 MB, and YouTube videos up to 256 MB.

Publishing was interrupted

Something stopped the post while it was going out. Click Retry to send it to the failed platforms.

Posts that wait instead of fail

  • Waits for account: the platform has no connected account yet. The post goes out once you connect one. Nothing fails while it waits.
  • Several accounts are connected: when a platform has more than one account, open the post and click the chip of the account it should use.
  • Awaiting approval: the AI chat or an API key wrote the post. Click Approve in the queue. See Manage posts in the queue and calendar.
  • Publishing for a few minutes: Instagram, Threads and some videos need processing time on the platform. WEMASY checks again every minute.

Frequently asked questions

Do I get an email when a post fails?

No. Failed posts show in the Failed tab of the Queue and as a count on the Overview page. Check them after a post was planned.

The post is published but the video cover is missing. Why?

Some platforms refuse a cover, for example YouTube only allows custom thumbnails on verified channels. The post stays published and the queue shows a note with the reason.

Tip: The composer warns you about most of these problems before you save, so read the warnings under the media rows before you click Schedule.
